I stole his day...

Twenty six years ago yesterday a cute little baby with rockstar hair made his entrance into the world. He thought August 17th would be his special day forever. And it was...until I decided to make my infamous entrance on the same day exactly one year later. Ha! Sucker. Now it's our day and he has to share it with me.

The day started out rather normal. It could have started out awesome if Isaac had let us open presents right away, but the man has no sense of curiosity whatsoever, and I'm pretty sure it actually brings him joy to watch me suffer in agony over the anticipation of having a surprise that I have to wait for forever to find out about. My ceaseless begging over the past several days appeared to have no effect on him, and we headed to work as usual, planning to celebrate together in the evening when we got home. In the morning, I had my chemistry class - nothing new there. Except that this happened to be the most horrific chem class I've had thus far. It's just a terribly complex section and after listening to the prof for two hours straight, I was way more confused than when class had begun, and positively convinced that I was now going to fail the final that loomed a mere three days away. Stuff like that stresses me out, so I headed out of the classroom trying not to cry, and trying not to be furious that my birthday had been ruined by stupid chemistry. But do you know what I saw as I opened that classroom door? The sweetest faces of a Morgan and an Alex, waiting for me to wish me a happy birthday. And they'd brought me a love fern! It was the best thing that could have happened after that miserable class. Things started looking up after that...I finished out work, went to dinner with my love, opened my beautiful gifts from Hannah. And then finally I got to open my gifts from Isaac only to discover that he'd gotten me the first season of I Love Lucy, which just might be my most favorite show of all time! So then we got to watch a couple episodes, I did a little chemistry and got every problem right (God must have been smiling on me after all), and Morgs and Tommy took us out for ice cream to finish out the night. It was a good day. A really good day.

Happy birthday to us!
